Of all thr people in rock that I met, I don't think I'd meet anyone who is genuinely passionate in music than Nicko McBrain from Iron Maiden.
He is without saying, one of rock's most larger than life Characters and a genuinely warm, funny and top bloke.
I first met him at one of Iron Maiden's fan club meets. I wasn't for very long but we talked. Then a couple of years later I met him in a pub in Walthamstow I used to frequent (The Royal Standard) back then, when train travel was affordable!! I met him in the bar before opening, as they had invited him to a Jam Night and he stayed pretty nearly the whole evening and in a break I bought him a drink as he was a bit glum as the kit he was using wasn't properly set up for him and he had busted the bass skin. I remember him saying this "The kit's too F****g small - I turned round to hit something and it wasn't there!!"
All in all a very enjoyable evening with a genuine top bloke and hope this inspires you to remember the musicians you met when young, and any other Nicko stories would be nice.
