Just been announced that John McCririck has died aged 79

Sadly I can’t say I’m surprised at the news.

Last time I saw him I was shocked by how much weight he had lost and how ill he looked.

Saw him several times at Newmarket when we went to the Guineas meeting. Racing will be a little bit poorer for his passing.

marxist scumbags C4 did not even mention his passing...scumbags used him for years and years to liven up their broadcast....

Well he did try to sue them for Age Discrimination after he didnt get the job when C4 got the racing again cos of his Sexist and outragious views on big brother

and they benefitted from the publicity...it was what they wanted from him...wankers at that channel....

He was a larger-than-life character that's for sure. I hadn't seen his appearance on This Morning and when they showed it on BBC News earlier I hardly recognised him, he looked very thin, his trademark sideburns almost gone and so very frail looking. Terrible shock to see him in that state. He is now at peace.

I read on Twitter that Tanya Stevenson was going to appear on the opening show on ITV this morning with a tribute to Big Mac. His partnership with her was entertaining.

News has emerged that he had lung cancer, which at the time of diagnosis was small enough to be removed but he had sepsis as well, so was not well enough to survive an operation.
