I like the way Pavarotti is clearly "stuff equality, I will show I am the best" and Domingo's like "I'm not letting you get away with that, I'll give Carreras a nudge".
My favourite opera has to be Marriage of Figaro. Very fond of La Traviata too. Un Ballo In Masquera with the wonderful Leontyne Price in the lead role is also a precious one to me.
This year, I have been getting to grips with The Ring Cycle, the Barenboim recording on CD in the car, and the Karajan/Berlin Phil on vinyl.
When you are in the mood, there is no better art form than opera. Arguably the zenith of Western cultural achievement.
