Been slowly getting into classical, this is one of my fave pieces Cool

Probably the most relaxing piece ever and good choice my friend. It is also one of mine and has topped the Classic FM music chart and vote at least 6 times. However, it is very rarely played elsewhere. Cropped up in the recent Proms concerts. Listen to it in a quiet moment and let it wash over you like waves in the sea.
I was looking through last night if there might be an old classical music thread to revive Tongue Or to start a new one for opera bits & bobs Tongue
This makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up...

Considering that is 100 years since Gustav Holst was born is it apt that you should post this Cheesy-BUT about two months ago someone released a jazz version called Jazz Planets, imagining what Duke Ellington might have made of it(he did some classical stuff jazzed up like the Nutcracker Suite) but this Echoes of Ellington is enough to make rind peel itself from cheese or set your teeth on edge. I hate it when some idiot decides to 'barstardise' classics like the Planets or even Rondo a la Turka(Mozart) by Kenny Ball and his Jazz Men OR further back the Anvil Chorus by Glenn Miller. It shouldn't be allowed, it ruins a classic tune by trying to get a new 'audience' into it. Stick to the originals. If you want to see what I mean type 'jazz planets' in YouTube and see what you think.Smile
Cheers, playing it now...I like it Cool
