During the 2010 World Cup FIFA had zones that were under their jurisdiction, there was an incident when someone was accused of a crime in those zones and rather than being tried in a South African court they were tried in FIFA's own court, they were charged, tried and convicted in just a couple of days, pretty much a Kangaroo court

Not too bad in the end. They got 15 days in jail.

That's actually a very shrewd move by the Russians. It means they can gloss over it fairly quickly without tarnishing the tournament and turning them into martyrs.
