Lord carrington former Foreign Secretary Dies Aged 99
One of Britain's most respected Foreign Secretaries RIP who took the job seriously.

He did plenty of other jobs (eg High Commissioner to Australia; Secretary General of NATO) outside of the British political scene.
I first heard of him in a Not the 9 o'clock News skit on Question Time when there were some repeats in the mid-90s.
99's a hell of an age. RIP
EDIT - he is of course best remembered for voluntarily resigning as Foreign Secretary at the start of the Falklands War, not because he was at fault, but because someone needed to take a dive and being in the House of Lords wasn't going to help matters.
