New EU data protection laws come into force today meaning companies are now seeking your permission on how they can use your details. While they are a good thing that has come out of the Cambridge Analytica scandal I have to say that there is part of me that thinks if this is likely one law is we cannot pull out of after Brexit.

the last couple of days has seen my spam folder fill up with these email and I don't think it will be finished quite just yet lol

just hope you all are aware of this change
GDPR has nothing to do with the Cambridge Analytica revelations as it predates that scandal by a long time. Why you would think we would not want to continue with the GDPR provisions after Brexit I have no idea and as with other EU regulations we will continue with them after exit next year as the Govt. has already said that will be the case with the multitude of EU stuff.
thanks for clarification mate i did think it was something that arose because of the scandal which I appreciate
I got a letter yesterday from a large multinational I deal with. They don't even have my e-mail as any business is done through the local rep who comes round (hence an actual letter). It was much more 'matter of fact' than the jokey spam e-mails from various retailers we've all been getting lately, and kind of brings home what all this is about.

I've had so many emails from people who would love to stay in touch with me! It's nice to be popular. Smile

But looking through these emails, I really have no idea how some of these organisations ever had my details in the first place.
OK so I received all those messages in May from various organisations, telling me I needed to opt in to continue receiving emails from them. I didn't bother opting in to any of them, since none looked to be of any interest. However, I now notice a couple of these companies are still sending me emails anyway. bladewave

I'm really worried about registering and / or providing personal I do online to watch porn or Chaturbate ...
^You're confusing the subject of this thread (GDPR) with the UK Government's ridiculous Porn Registration system.

They're just a little bit different Wink
