can anyone recommend a decent (free) disk space analyser please?

apparently my hard drive is full and the default windows 10 one just doesn't add up.
I use WinDirStat.
It takes a while to analyse but gives good detail and you don't need to install anything.
Thanks circles, that's done the trick, found copies of things I didn't even know existed!
theres also treesize free. same kinda app that finds all user files.

if you dont use hibernation, you can disable it to get 4+ gigs of diskspace back

you can also reduce the size of your page file if you have an ssd 2-4 gigs max rather than 1.5 times the amount of ram you have installed.
(8gig of ram results in a recommended page file of 12 gigs. 16 gig ram, 24gig page file (yeah really))

you can also reduce the size of your recycle bin. 4 gigs should be enough for most people...

then theres duplicate files... this is a little more tricky because you can easily crash the o.s. if your careless. but it can save you a bit of space. ccleaner has an option to perform this.

then theres your drivers... nvidia and amd tend to extract there entire driver package to the disk before installing and rarely remove the used archive. so you can have 2 or more old archives taking up 100's of mb each.

lastly if your still using spinning rust (hdd) you can use something like disktrix ultimate defrag to consolidate your files which helps reduce wasted disk space found at the end of files. auslogics defrag is also a good as is priforms defraggler (found on the above link) and i would stay clear of windows own.
