What a great year 2017 has been for gaming with the release of new consoles like the Nintendo Switch,Xbox One X & plenty of great games releases on various formats too.With original never seen before games like Horizon Zero Dawn,Cuphead to name just a few there was also the return of long awaited sequals like Resident Evil 7,Wolfenstein 2,Injustice 2,Assassin's Creed;Origins etc.There was also the usual yearly updated games (with some being guilty of not offering anything different from the previous year's version) like Fifa 18,PES 18 & WWE2K18.

What in your opinion deserves the mantra of being 'Game of the Year 2017' & whilst I've put a list of my Top 3 Games of 2017 I've also noted of what game in my opinion was the Worst Game of 2017 as well.Feel free to add your worst games of the year should you wish to add them or just your favourite(s).Many Thanks.

Top 3 Games of the Year 2017;
-----------------------------------
1)Resident Evil 7;Biohazard (amazing atmospheric game that's lends a nod to Horror films like Texas Chainsaw Massacre,Wrong Turn & Evil Dead.).

2)Horizon Zero Dawn (a cracking adventure game with a bonkers story-line set in a Post-Apocalyptic future where animals have been replaced with android counterparts)

3)Injustice 2 (best fighting game of the year set in the DC universe with a great roster of characters from old favourites like Superman,Flash,Batman to lesser known characters like Blue Beetle,Swamp Thing,Captain Cold etc).

Worst Game of the Year 2017;
----------------------------------
WWE 2K18 (with probably the largest game roster of WWE superstars in any game the gameplay sucks with a poor repetitive reversal system,a boring story-mode,poor online matches.But when you play a match with 4+ wrestlers the frame-rate really struggles ponderously like a slug on crutches.A poor yearly update that's worse than last years version).
Only one ive played is Horizon Zero Dawn and loved that
Think I've only played 3 games that were released this year.

Horizon Zero Dawn - Started it yesterday, seems good enough so far. Part Assassins Creed, part The Witcher 3. Very polished look to it, though (probably) not as deep as The Witcher.

Life Is Strange: Before The Storm - Episodic prequel. Despite the lack of the original's rewinding time feature, this still works in fleshing out some of the backstory leading up to it. Very short episodes though. I've probably spent longer listening to the title screen music (purposely, mind.)
Episode 3 still to come.

Marvel Heroes Omega - released this year on consoles, been on PC for awhile.
Sadly it got shut down recently, which was a major shame as it was great to play (and free) despite all the grinding to get anywhere. Fuck loot boxes.

Worst = FF15's Episode Prompto DLC - Extremely short, and a bit too abstract. It got good reviews but I was just glad to finish it. The snowmobile time trials were a cunt to do. Episode Gladiolus DLC was better, and had more skill and timing to it. Unlikely to play either of those again, though the way FF15's going with updates, never say never. Smile
Football Manager 2018
For me easy choice Zelda Breath of The Wild on Nintendo Switch.
I know Street Fighter 5 was released last year but I played it earlier this year. I thought it was ok despite a few bad reviews about lack of new character options.

Super Mario Odyssey on the Switch which I played recently, was an enjoyable throwback to the classic Mario years.

Apart from those I haven't had much chance to play many games this year.
Super Mario Odyssey was my personal favourite,so simple,playable and addictive.Its the epitome of what gaming is all about.

Worst was WWE 2K18 for all the reasons Jack The Nipper mentioned in the first post of the thread,to me it also looked very second generation as well.Piss poor.
I played a stunning game of boggle with my nephew.... oh wait... wrong thread
For me Super Mario Odyssey is my game of the year. I haven't had that much fun in a game in years and spent almost 60 hours playing it in the 1st few days of release - it's that good! Great to have the sandbox style of Super Mario 64 back.

2nd place goes to Breath of the Wild. Great open world game & it was nice to see the Zelda formula tweaked, but keep a lot of the charm of the older games. It's challenging, but a real fun adventure. Was always gonna win the official game of the year.

3rd place goes to Injustice 2. Excellent fighting game, the best fighter I've played in ages. The amount of characters & moves is insane. So much fun.

I haven't really played any bad ones, but it's most likely gonna be WWE 2K18. I've seen the gameplay footage and the framerate is embarrassing. I hope 2K release a patch for this to sort it out... especially as I paid £30 for the Switch version last week (at least I didn't pay full price for it, I guess!).
