Has just been announced that Peter Sallis the actor of Last of the Summer Wine and the voice of Wallace from Wallace & Gromit has died peacefully.
he was 96
Excellent in Last of the Summer Wine. RIP
For me he was the lynch-pin of Last of the Summer Wine - droll, understated, but brilliant - & the voice of Wallace will forever be there as his other memorial. Yet another sad loss, but he had a long and full life.
He truly was the last of, last of the summer wine . RIP
The three of them are reunited now.
RIP Cleggy
Rather more than three
Given his age, this was only a matter of time, but 96 is still a remarkable age.
He was essential to the success of Wallace & Gromit, and of course Last of the Summer Wine (big fan). Also a lovely bloke by all accounts.
RIP

Yes, I know
but, for me, the quintessential trio will always be Foggy, Compo and Clegg.
Having said that I was amazed
to see that Truely had actually been in more episodes than Foggy, even allowing for the break Brian Wilde took when Seymour (Michael Aldridge) took over.
Peter Sallis is the only one who appeared in every one of the 295 episodes, quite an achievement in itself
I have DVD's somewhere of the first four series, I might have to dig them out tonight
