Plenty of gimmicks... I thought I was watching a Babestation night show.
Lucy's song was a good song, that's a respectable finish considering our woeful performances in past contests. Good system of popular votes at the end of the jury votes, made it more interesting.
Overall, there were lots of crazy things as usual - the arguments over which countries should be allowed in, the boos in the arena over the political 12 point votes from Greece to Cyprus, that's all part of the maddening proceedings. Plus others have said there were plenty of fit birds to perv over.
The whole thing's absolutely daft, we all know that, it has been for years. As long as we don't take it seriously and just enjoy it for what it is - a celebration of absolute madness and moderately awful but somehow weirdly entertaining shite, we shouldn't go too far wrong.

I did point out earlier in the thread that 18 of this year's entrants were not EU countries, but the fact that Eurovision is nothing to do with the EU seems a hard point for some to grasp.
Admittedly, it seemed so poor that I did a
lot of fast-forwarding, so may have missed something vaguely interesting, but the only song to rise above the general mediocrity, IMO, was the Belgian entry - at least it had a pleasant hook.

It's something of a shock that Portugal won, if only because their record in Eurovision is one of the worst. In the 14 years since semi-finals were introduced this is only the 4th time they have even reached the final.
I suppose we can thank our lucky stars that it is only once a year!!
