Although we ban spam/dodgy accounts fairly quickly (bots mainly), we do have some showing up and posting in multiple threads before we catch them.
Now the posts are easy to spot, they generally look exactly like you'd expect a spam post to (nothing to do with the forum, sometimes foreign language, links that look suspicious, again unrelated to the forum subject), but if you are ever unsure, don't click on links out of curiosity, report the post to us and we will check it and remove it where necessary.
Also, if you are ever messaged and you think it's suspicious, report the poster or forward the message to one of us, don't just ignore it, that way we can ban the account if it is someone trying their luck.
It is all just common sense really, if it looks dodgy, it most likely will be.
