Kempton racing abandoned after a four horse pile up on the home turn in the Breeders Backing Racing EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes the third race of the meeting Jockeys Jim Crowley and Freddie Tylicki were taken to St George's hospital in Tooting with Freddie being airlifted and Jim by road Ambulance. Jim Crowley was later discharged, but Freddie remains in intensive care and all prayers for his recovery and thoughts to his family and friends. Two others were thrown from their horses but were able to walk back to the weighing room.
Just been announced that Freddy Tylicki has been paralysed from the waist down
I feel more sorry for the horses being forced into this nonsense than the jockeys.
All horses were unhurt in the accident

thing is horses are bred for racing and if racing didnt exist then would be no need for them. Most racehorses are treated very well in fact when some of the offspring can go for 6 figures or more.

i love watching racing the horses are beautiful and they do like to run in packs thats why they still continue to race when they have thrown the jockey off.

Still concerns about national hunt racing trying to make it safer but cannot eliminate risk

this accident happened on the flat which is very rare but because it was a flat race speed was proberly higher than a NH race
if the jockey falls off, in jump racing or flat racing 99% of the horses continue to race the other horses...they live for the racing, like why do humans go marathon racing? Most thoroughbreds go stir crazy if left in stables or fields with no races with each other

This is the same nonsensical "logic" that people apply to chickens and cows just so they can eat them. Wild animals have such shit lives in their natural habitat so we humans must capture them, breed them and make money off them. Ok mate Rolleyes

Really? Always looked like a monkey on their back was forcing them to race, maybe my eyes are lying to me.

They aren't forced to.
There is aslways riask in any sport like horse racing or motor racing or skiing that you will either be killed or seriously injured NH racing there is far more risk and like Hannah said accidents are rare on
the flat but even so when horses are going 30 - 35 mph flat out it will only take one tiny error for it go tragically wrong. I think in Freddie's case it is possible a promising career is over in racing for him before it is properly begun but seeing the go fund page set up for him has passed over £100,000 shows how much people have dug deep to make his life that much easier with their donations
At least the main thing was no horses were hurt in the pile up,
The last serious flat accident i'd seen before this one was Willie' Carson's one at York I think back in the 80's and I'm sure Hannahspet might know the one I mean.

its you don't understand, if you think you can make a 500kg animal do what it does not want to do?? have you ever been to a stable? ridden a horse? fed a horse?ImportantbladewaveRolleyes If a horse does not want to race then they are retired and these are a small percentage believe me
