Fair point but we had plenty of pace in Brazil and where did that get us? It is a consolation that we have young players coming through and should have plenty of experience come the finals. It's just worrying and I know it's just a friendly, how we didn't look like getting an equaliser once the Germans went ahead. I suppose the positives of it is we can't be accused of peaking too early.
Well all we can hope is that they've got some big tournament experience from Brazil 2014 and France 2016 and will be better for it in Russia next year. We hope they learn from the disappointments in recent tournaments and turn those experiences into something positive.

I wasn't as excited by England's chances in Brazil, because the form leading up to it was patchy. Now I believe there's some reason to be more positive with a new coaching set up and hungrier looking players. Last summer's defeat against Iceland will hopefully have given them something positive to take into our remaining qualification matches and then to the finals.
I wouldnt say at the moment that we have world class players needed to compete seriously at the world cup but hopefully players such as Ali, Sterling, Rashford, Kane
can become one when the tournament starts.
And I certainly wouldn't say that teams the likes of Lithuania are getting any better as Terry Butcher (or whoever it was) at the game on radio 5 live was suggesting - they make internationals & WC & EC qualifiers more boring to be honest god knows what would happen if they ever made to a major finals!! We absolutely could not break them down in the first half it goes without saying that Southgate's a nice guy but certainly lacks a little tactics wise felt I was watching as Premier league X1 trying to beat a Conference XI and the conference were playing way better football or making the PL XI look pretty ordinary Half that England team on the pitch last night didn't seem to have a clue what to do I think we England fans at the hardest fans in the world to please sometimes. 606 was controversial at the moment even fans suggesting Southgate should never have got the job!! I think to be honest it is young team but what we are missing I think is someone taking up that mantle of Beckham's role in the team - being a king playmaker as such in that team and on the pitch. Alli would most likely be the one in my mind that could do that role, but maybe you have other suggestions? But certainly we still looked way too ordinary and at times still clueless!!
It seems that England are just doing enough to win the qualifiers
and what happens when we get to the finals? We either don't go there with a plan B if Plan A doesn't work, or the players just don't follow the game plan and decide to fart about and make things difficult for themselves I bet if the players had their heads screwed on way better last summer we might have done something the bloody Euros for once!! Souhtgate needs to instill in the team that they can't afford to fart about at finals
pick that oot! Smile
and that! eek
Get in, Harry Kane!!
ouch! how unlucky can one country be?
