Quote:Found this old thread on the forum and wanted to see if fellow posters have any similar experience, advice or tips please? I allegedly qualified through loyalty for a sky q upgrade and free instillation. Having waited 3 weeks, my engineer called in today and wanted to sink approximately 8 ladder bolts to my exterior walls so he could access my dish. I refused on the basis that when sky plus multi room went in this wasn’t considered necessary and I didn’t want bolt holes fixed on my property. The engineer confirmed there was nothing he could do without these to secure his ladder. I called sky afterwards who confirmed that it was a health and safety issue and if I wanted it done I should get a non sky engineer to upgrade my dish for a cost of approx £300. Sky said that they would then come back and set me up at my cost!! Has anyone else had this experience? I am very angry by the whole thing and am stunned that my free upgrade would now cost me! Any advice or tips most welcomed!

ring up and threaten to leave them. if they think you're serious they'll soon change their tune. i got my mum and dad free sky q upgrade free instalation and 1 mini wirless box, ultra fast broadband with a new router and a tenner a month cheaper than they were paying. play hardball with them and you'll get far.
They're supposed to be releasing SkyQ over broadband in 2018 if you have a decent connection and don't mind waiting a bit.

I'm not surprised to hear they still use eye bolts to secure their ladders. There are other systems which don't require you to drill holes in people's houses but Sky are too fucking stupid to use them.
Ah sky engineers are a law unto themselves. had one who wouldnt even come into the house unless i had my 5 shih tzus locked in another room Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue he was claiming health and safety to Wink

had a couple of problems

main one was when a bt engineer who was installing a new line for a neighbour and detached ours on the telephone pole leaving us with no broadband or phone for about a week. sky were fucking useless cunts wouldnt do anything so we threatened to leave even got to the disconnection stage and then they suddenly changed there tune

with regards to ladders had a problem because the old install was put in about 10 years before and we had an conservatory put underneath it the engineer just said i will put it in another place so was put just a few feet to the left of old install was no need for bolts or any other stuff
