England had their moments in their opening match in the U-21 finals, but couldn't score and went down 1-0 to Portugal. I don't think they can have any complaints about the result. The other match in group B saw Sweden beat Italy 2-1.
I thought England were unlucky. It was the Portuguese keeper that had the saves to make.

In the other group Denmark beat the Czech Republic 2-1 and Germany and Serbia drew 1-1.
Stat note. England have now lost 5 matches in a row at UEFA U-21 finals.
England have beaten Sweden 1-0 in their second match of the tournament.
That late winner for England came as a big relief. Time was running out and a draw wouldn't have been much use.

The final group match is against Italy on Wednesday and it's still possible for England to finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th.
Hosts Czech Republic failed to make it out of the group stage after a 1-1 draw with Germany last night. Denmark are the winners of Group A after beating Serbia 2-0 and will now face the Group B runners-up, whilst Germany will play the Group B winners in the other semi-final.
Sleepy defending twice in a few minutes and it's 2-0 Italy.
Oh dear oh dear oh dear Rolleyes.
England 1-3 Italy and Portugal 1-1 Sweden.

England finish bottom of group and Italy also go out.

Looks like the u/21's are developing nicely and should fit right in with the senior squad then laugh
I don't know why people are so negative when England go out in the last 8 of competitions. There's no obvious reason to me why England should be expected to make the semi-finals of everything. Getting to the last 8 is hardly a disaster.
