Would the mod's kindly bring this to people's attention. It's not necessarily anyone's fault, particularly forum newbs, but some posts are close to getting lost, as a result of others 'replying' and including entire sets of cap's / screens within those replies - if you know what I mean.

Bottom-line - if you're quoting / replying to a post, just repeat the bare minimum (by deleting the non-essential text or links) & not the entire thing, unless it's imperative.
If anyone sees a post that takes to long to load because of duplicated content, please report it to a mod.
I am noticing more and more certain forum members are using the quotation tool far too much, for example if I had posted a comment on say page 122 for example and somebody wanted to respond to my post on page 127 then fair enough but not when my post is allready on the same bloody page.

Also incase anybody is in any doubt if you quote somebody elses post please then only do so to offer an alternative opinion on it or to add further comment that might be relevent to the post in question instead of something simplistic as I agree or this Big Laugh I don't know about you but it makes my blood boil to see such lazy posting going on.

Leave this type of work to stupid threads such as one word story or A to Z's. Your thought's bladewave

I totally agree with you scottishbloke.
I fucking knew somebody would do that Wink seriously though it's getting beyond the fucking joke, the ofcom discussion section is completely fucked up as a result of this. I don't know who I'm more pissed off with these days, ofcom or those fucking overquoting bastards Cool
Scottishbloke,I take your point on overquoting, but to accuse members of being lazy would be wrong.A well thought out & succinct post can carry as much weight as your own, often overbearing & drawn out posts.Sometimes less is more.
I don't often venture this far down the forum because, basically, I can't be arsed but it's Sunday night and I'm bored.
I'll give you my thoughts.
I've just been reading the Forum Activity (or lack of) thread and seen this post, among others

Lack of original and individual thought has been lost lately. If you disagree with somebody then say so, stop sitting on the fence, it's a forum at the end of the day. When this get's ironed out then we might just see an upsurge in the amount of new posts being made. Be an individual instead of going with the crowd.

Is it any wonder members, especially new and/or inexperienced ones are discouraged from posting when faced with the intimidating style of some established members.

Yes, everyone is entitled to an opinion and there's nothing wrong with robust arguments in threads on the relevant topics.
I don't disagree with your opinion on overquoting but if the problem is a recurring one with certain members then it's up to the mods to have a quiet word. In fact if the mods haven't already removed the overquoting then they obviously don't think it's a problem and if it's still pissing you off then tough shit. I've had quotes deleted on occasion and I just think "oops, should've been more careful". I certainly wouldn't appreciate some other member bellowing at me like Windsor Davis addressing the concert party.
Obviously quoting caps & vids is a complete no-no but I don't think text slows the forum that much. It's not compulsory to re-read all the quoted text so, if the mods haven't already dealt with it, then skip over it.
Foul mouthed rants usually have two effects, either posters will deliberately overquote just to wind the ranter up even more (I see it's already happened) or they'll pack up and find a more friendly forum to post on.
Just my considered opinion, feel free to reply with as much foul and abusive language as you like. I'll just re-quote every last word when I reply back Wink
My 2 pence worth... I think when you're on any page on a forum where there might be several subjects being discussed within a thread and someone, even if it is the previous poster, has said something and you want to directly query it then quoting is fine. I just think it's a bit OTT when someone quotes a quote then re-quotes another quote that does not require re-quoting. Then quotes get a bit lost and un-necessary (a bit like the previous sentence and this post)
This is something which lately I feel has reared it's ugly head again. If you have to quote then please justify it. I try to quote the bare minium in order to add my responce to it.

The worst kind of over quoting I've seen is when somebody quotes your entire post when its the one directly above, it achieves nothing other than duplicate for no reason with something as simplistic as I agree.

Can I advice that rather than typing out I agree just hit the thank you button instead unless you have anything further or new to add to the topic in discussion and if its the post above that you are making reference to then you probably won't need to use the quotation tool unless it's just to highlight just a very brief sentence if you so wish to do so.

The whole forum is getting littered with over quoting which when trying to read through the thread it just makes it all look a mess and shabby like a car park that hasn't been swept.

Can we all just use our commensense and only quote if it's really neccessary and if you have to edit the quote if you are only making reference to one of the points the poster made in the original post.

Thanks, I just really had to get this rant out of my system Smile
I'd just like to say that I encourage overquoting. This place is so dead that it makes it all seem a bit busier. Carry on people. Thanks for your time.
