loved the way he paced last Fridays innings he just got faster and faster as got used to the blowing,
on another note the county ground at taunton is now officially the fastest scoring T20 ground in the world,
Not a great surprise though winsaw, given that it has been playing like the proverbial road for years. I think they tried recently to extract more 'life' from it?? Without much success. Mind you, for T20 batfests, perfect!!

Re-match tonight, at Headingley, match starts 18.30.
5 overs in and Lancs 54 for 1. Big total on here, and - as expected - bowlers toiling early doors, albeit powerplay overs
Lancashire won by 4 runs after Hartley took a catch on the boundary off the last ball. Cool
^^ The last ball was an inch away from being a six & a Yorkshire win. Another great game.
The 2 sides combined, have 6 players who are in the England ODI squad who play the Netherlands, & Buttler who wasn't available tonight.
Parkinson, Root, Bairstow & Brook with the England squad. Mahmood & Fisher injured. Yorkshire were also without Kiwi Finn Allen who played for Lancashire last year.
Not happy with the DLS method in the T20 format. The chasing side almost always wins, you might as well just decide it on the toss of the coin & not bother trying to defend in the 2nd innings. Surely a fair system would give as near to a 50/50 win /loss split between batting first, & chasing.
This season Yorkshire have been on the wrong end of rain affected matches, both against Derbyshire. Yesterday at Chesterfield, Yorkshire had a run-rate of just below 9 runs per over, But Derbyshire only had to chase just above 10 runs per over, but for only 10 not 20 overs. The key is that you still have all 10 wickets. Yorkshire had a wet outfield & ball to contend with, a complete joke.
Derbyshire now stand 4th in the North group one point ahead of Yorkshire, if they maintain their position it will be good enough for Quarter-Final place, will Yorkshire set to miss out, by virtue of the 4 point advantage Derbyshire have gained over them with 2 easy 8 & 10 over chases. I'd much prefer these 2 fixtures had been rained off, & points shared for a no result, in this scenario Yorkshire would lie 3 points above Derbyshire, I believe this would be a fairer outcome, than what has actually transpired.
I see Essex slammed 254/5 off 20 overs in beating Glamorgan. Some ridiculous six hitting from Dan Lawrence and Paul Walter Surprised.
Yorkshire secured the 4th qualifying spot on Friday, after Leicestershire were docked 2 points for ill discipline during their home match against Northamptonshire, a game which the Foxes won. Todays Foxes v Vikings clash should've been a decider, with the Foxes just one point behind the Vikings.
1st Quarter-Final Surrey v Yorkshire - The Oval (18.30)

As is often the case, the county game is marginalized, this clash should be showcasing the stars of the 2 most successful counties in the history of the game. The success of the competition as a whole has been compromised already by cramming it into a smaller window earlier in the season, which has affected attendance. Those in charge at the ECB will no doubt highlight how much better The Hundred is, with bigger crowds (helped by FREE tickets). well it's has the best chance to shine, given a prime slot in mid-summer, with children off school.
I digress, with the England v India T20 series commencing the following day, both sides will be without their captains, Jordan, & Willey, along with Roy, Sam Curran, & Topley. Yorkshire are also without Malan, & Brook. Root & Barstow are not in the England T20 squad, but I would imagine that the are resting.
