The most common method is to connect your Sky+ box to a DVD recorder and play the content in real time on Sky while recording on your DVD recorder.
If you've recorded directly onto a DVD disc then stick that in your PC and edit the content. Or if you recorded onto the hard disk of the DVD recorder, transfer that to a DVD disc and then on to your PC.
There's a technical forum here which may provide some more detail about some of the questions you may have. http://www.babeshows.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?fid=23

Also,if you keep you videos under 200mb which for mp4 is about 20 minutes you can upload them to Rapidshare for nothing at around 80kb/second if you avoid the busiest times of the day.I was clueless about all this stuff too just a couple of months ago.Now I have uploaded over 160 videos,it's addictive! I use a program called 4Media DVD to MP4 converter which I had to pay for to get the full 'useful' version! It does use all of your processor power though if you've got a older PC,I don't know if all programs do this.
