Today was only supposed to be 11 - 4 anyway as there's some sort of porn awards ceremony tonight but there was no show (Kiki Minaj) and no word on twitter from them as to what's happening.

Well that torpedoed my plan to call Kiki Minaj. bladewave
Never mind normal service has resumed today (with Crystal Cox).
It may have been normal earlier, but the stream now seems to have disappeared entirely.
It's back again now. I think they still have a few technical gremlins on occasions.
Why does this channel suddenly change to the regular ChatGirl sometimes? Is that a gremlin or is the TVX show taking a break?

Like i said video streaming is regulated by ATVOD and TV broadcasts are regulated by Ofcom, that's the comparison i was making, i never said Ofcom regulate TV on demand viewed via the internet, i was talking about them regulating live and recorded stuff shown on TV .
But Ofcom are the ones that deal with any appeals made against ATVOD rulings or fines etc, like they did when overturning ATVOD's ruling against Playboy .

The question of who regulates internet live broadcasts was a grey area but Ofcom now cover it.

ATVOD do not regulate live web broadcasts, only Video On Demand, which by definition is not live. The 'TV like' clause is not relevant, if you read their guidance in detail.

Section 2:

2.17 A content service that is broadcast or streamed in a linear form is not covered by the
on-demand programme service rules, and may be subject to the relevant ‘broadcast’
regulation.
It should be noted that the rules for broadcast regulation are explicitly
extended by the Directive and the Act to cover internet-based television channels.

The underlined section clearly states that internet TV channels are now covered by the broadcasting act, i.e. Ofcom.

So going back to mr mystery's original point - yes, Chatgirl do need to be careful, and must ensure that any hard content is supposedly out of the reach of children. Just thinking aloud, but this implies that the sexstationtv live stream is illegal. Huh

Edit: To answer my own point, the sexstation servers are presumably located outside the UK to get round the rules.

Thanks for that, i read it all the other day but couldn't work out what it all meant lol.

Anyway talking about SS, in the last few of months one of the Cellcast reps mentioned somewhere (that at this time iv'e forgot were) that they had been in discussions with ATVOD concerning the Sexstation live broadcast .

Yes, if the TVX girl is on break it defaults to the Chatgirl 1 output

There was a message at one time somewhere on the various Cellcast websites that said they came under Dutch regulations, so maybe that's a reason SS can get away with showing hardcore content without any age verification mechanism in place ?, that's how i always thought they got away with it anyway .

Iv'e been trying to remember were it was that i'd seen it mentioned about Cellcast being in discussions with ATVOD concerning Sexstaion, i still can't remember, but that was one of the reasons a though ATVOD were regulators of the live web streams and not Ofcom .
I did find a different reference to ATVOD though by Mark Cremona in the BSX producers blog, posted on the 25th of September 2013, were someone was warning him about ATVOD cracking down on websites that don't hide their hardcore content behind secure age checks, they made a point in mentioning the free to air Sexstaion streams being viewable., Mark replied by saying this "we are a high profile UK site due to our television broadcasting and exchanged pleasantries with ATVOD a long time ago" . I'm not sure what that means .

Before anyone mentions that the thread is going off track and isn't about rules and regs etc, i know that lol, i originally mentioned that due to it being a UK website (i think) it will probably come under UK regulations, and what content can be streamed without the viewer being age verified, so i said ChatGirl need to be careful .

The more i look at the rules the more confused i get .
