Anyone else watching this? (BBC2, Thursday nights)
Set in 1919 Birmingham around the gangs and the government of the day's attempts to clean them up.
Gripping stuff, and a little shocking at times.
Gripping stuff indeed, very well acted and well produced..
I wouldn't miss it, mostly because one of its stars is the lovely Annabelle Wallis. She has previously played the part of Jane Seyour in The Tudors
Is that the girl working undercover for the police, yeah, she's nice.
I like where they've gone with the soundtrack. You wouldn't think rock would work with a period drama, but it does here.

Well then, you'll be pleased to know they've commissioned a second series
Loving this excellent period drama series, it's superbly acted, the brooding tension is excellent, and the cast is spot on.
Cillian Murphy and Sam Neill are excellent, and Annabelle Wallis makes terrific eye candy.
last of 1st series repeats on bbc2 now, new series starts Thursday 2nd October
I'll be glad when Annabelle Wallis returns. The series has rather dull without her.
Lacking a bit in eye-candy, I grant you, but I think it's been very good. More plot twists than you can shake a stick at (I've not seen last nights yet, though).
I particularly liked Ada's way of thanking the Peaky's who rescued her
(made me cross my legs, anyway)
But, yeah, looking forward to Grace putting a spanner in the works
I take it back about the eye-candy, the posh racehorse trainer's none to shabby with her kit off
And Tommy walking into their London nightclub..... "Mornin Arthur, I'm just passing."
(ok, I guess you have to know the context
)
