At the top right of my screen there's a little box saying English (United Kingdom).

I don't know how this got there and I don't know how to get rid of it either. I guess it's teling me what keyboard I'm using??

There's probably some simple answer but so far I haven't found it. Does anyone know how to remove it?
Hi elgar,

That is the Language Bar and you're right that it can be used to select the keyboard. I'll tell you how to minimise it in the Taskbar in Windows Vista.

Click the little down arrow in the bottom right-hand corner of the Language Bar.
Then select Settings... from the pop-up menu which appears.
Click on the Language Bar tab at the top of the Text Services and Input Languages dialog box which appeared.
Under the Language Bar options, select "Docked in the taskbar" and click the OK button. It will now appear as EN next to the System Tray on the taskbar.
Alternatively, you can select "Hidden" in the step above to hide it completely. If you do this you will need to use the Control Panel to restore it to the taskbar.
