Imho it's because she doesn't quite fit the stereotype of the Barbie glamourpuss, I personally find her all the better for that but I can see why it could mean she doesn't do so well in the polls with certain sections of the viewers.
(And I also have the impression she couldn't care less about this, she seems to have a sensible head on her if her measured put-downs to the chatterboxers is anything to go by.)
Conversely, that may be also be why she is apparently more engaged and customer focused than some of the babes that trade on unapproachable aloofness.
