Upon recieving my latest monthly bank statement, I was overjoyed to see on paper that I've successfully resisted the urge to top up my phone to ring the shows.
Not that I didn't enjoy the occasional DTW or NTW, but there are so many things that I wish to experience in my little life before I turn 40, and at 37, I was never going to be able to afford to go to New York if I continued to blow between £70 and £100 a month, ringing, or in most cases 'trying', to ring Cherri and a few other of my favorite babes, mainly on the night shows.
I had been paying a large bank loan off since 2004, due to an ex girlfriend ripping me off for a small fortune, and thanks to a recent successful PPI claim, I managed to clear the remaining £2,368 in one go, leaving just enough spare to purchase a decent mountain bike.
This means I can finally practice to compete in the Fleetwood triathalon, among other ambitions and with the significant reduction of monthly debt, I finally have a crack at realising certain dreams and achieving personal goals.
I rarely watch the channels anymore & figure that while I am busy jogging half marathons, training in - and assitant teaching in - freestyle martial arts classes & mountain biking, then I'm not sat at home, fighting the urge to ring Lucy-Anne, lol.
I'll still tune into the shows occasionally & frequent the forum - a little less than I used to.
But for now, I gotta start making up for 8 years of being stuck in the house wishing I could plan an annual holiday like most other people
P.S. Not long after my ex left me in the lurch, she was sacked for stealing from her workplace and her new boyfriend was arrested for flashing at children in public parks. Ashamed and humiliated, she moved away to her home town and I haven't had to lay eyes on her since. #Karma.
