Pick your 23 man england squad to play at the euros.
OK then.

J Hart, R Green, B Foster

G Johnson, K Walker, A Cole, L Baines, J Terry, R Ferdinand, G Cahill, J Lescott

G Barry, S Gerrard, P Jones, F Lampard, J Milner, S Parker, T Walcott, A Young

A Carroll, J Defoe, W Rooney, D Welbeck

Unlucky: M Richards, D Bent (probably unfit), J Wilshere, M Dawson
If all the below players were fit here is my squad.

Goalkeepers: Joe Hart, John Ruddy, Ben Foster

Defenders: Phil Jagielka, Michael Dawson, John Terry, Kyle Walker, Ashley Cole, Leighton Baines, Glen Johnson, Chris Smalling.

Midfielders: Tom Cleverley, Steven Gerrard, Theo Walcott, Gareth Barry, Scott Parker, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner.

Strikers: Daniel Sturridge, Darren Bent, Wayne Rooney, Peter Crouch.

I would also select Ashley Young who could be used as a winger or a striker
Well done for a good attempt snookered147, but unfortunately Dawson, Smalling and Bent are all definitely unfit, so your squad selection is invalid.

The squad I nominated was based on an ideal world scenario where all players were fit hence the opening line of my original post. I am aware that Dawson and Smalling are injured although as I understand it Darren Bent has contacted Roy Hodgson to declare himself fit and ready to go to the Euros.
If asked to pick replacements for Smalling and Dawson I would choose Gary Cahill who I understand should be fit in time and Matthew Upson.
We need to start looking forward to 2014 in Brazil as thats the tournament where the next generation will start with maybe all but 1 or 2 of the old guard so why not get the plans underway now as no one is expecting us to do anything in the Euros (3,000 of the 9,000 tickets sold), given this we can't fail.

4-3-3 formation

Goalkeepers

Joe Hart
Ben Foster
Jack Butland/Ben Amos

Defenders

Ashley Cole
Leighton Baines
Glen Johnson
Kyle Walker
Garry Cahill
Phil Jagielka
Micah Richards
Ryan Shawcross/Martin Kelly

Midfielders

Steven Gerrard
Scott Parker/Phil Jones (Captain Parker if fit)
Gareth Barry
Jordan Henderson
Adam Johnson
Ashley Young
Joe Cole
Victor Moses

Strikers

Wayne Rooney
Jermain Defoe
Danny Sturridge
Andy Carroll

If Parker's injured I'd play Jones center & Barry left of the 3. The likes of Walker, Kelly/Shawcross, Henderson, Moses could be used as frequent subs & maybe start the last group game event if we still haven't qualified for the knockout stage as that would be the best test to see how far 2014 will is away. Sturridge & Carroll could be used as the first choice strikers with Rooney playing left or right.

Hart
Johnson Richards Jagielka Cole
Gerrard Parker Barry
Johnson Defoe Rooney

A new team for the third match (Parker/Jones, Gerrard would be Jack Wilshere).

Hart
Walker Kelly Cahill Baines
Henderson Parker Gerrard
Moses Sturridge Johnson

Unfortunatley most of the young players in this squad will be used for the Olympics & will gain nothing from it what so ever!

That said we all know the squad will be

Hart (GK)
Foster
Green

Cole (LB)
Baines
Johnson (RB)
Walker
Terry © (CB)
Ferdinand (CB)
Jagielka
Lescott

Gerrard (LW)
Parker (CM)
Barry
Lampard (CM)
Downing
Lennon
Walcott (RW)
Young
Beckham
Scholes

Rooney (CF)
Defoe
Crouch (CF)
Welbeck
Heskey (On for Crouch after 63min.... A nation re-united And England comes aliveGolden balls is captain and Heskey makes it five, We're on the ball, we're on the ball)
Goalkeepers - Joe Hart, Ben Foster, Rob Green

Defenders - Micah Richards, Kyle Walker, John Terry, Gary Cahill, Joleon Lescott, Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines, Ashley Cole

Midfielders - Theo Walcott, Adam Johnson, Steven Gerrard, Scott Parker, Frank Lampard, Gareth Barry, Ashley Young, James Milner

Strikers - Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck, Peter Crouch, Daniel Sturridge
Terry won't be the captain, it'll e Gerrard. By not selecting Gerrard he makes for a untold amount of questions on why it isn't Gerrard. Gerrard will be captain - Guaranteed.

As for the team...

GK's - Joe Hart, John Ruddy, Alex McCarthy

DF - Ashley Cole, Leighton Baines, John Terry, Joleon Lescott, Phil Jagielka, Gary Cahill, Micah Richards, Kyle Walker

MD - Ashley Young, Steven Gerrard, Scott Parker (if fit, Michael Carrick if not) Frank Lampard, Phil Jones, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Adam Johnson,

ST - Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch, Wayne Rooney, Andy Carroll, Daniel Sturridge,
as far as i know, the FA still have the ban in on Terry being a captain, due to the court case. so no chance he'll be captain. Should be Stevie G, but who knows, going on past squads....... Bring back Becks..!!! lol. He can bend it in my box anytime he wants..!!!
If he hadn't been plagued by injuries Ledley King would have been the first name on my list

KEEPERS: Joe Hart, Scott Carson, Ben Foster.

DEFENDERS: John Terry, Ashley Cole, Gary Cahill, Joleon Lescott, Leighton Baines, Micah Richards, Kyle Walker.

MIDFIELDERS: Scott Parker (if not fit I'd take a chance on Rodwell), Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Gareth Barry, Adam Johnson, Stewart Downing, Aaron Lennon, James Milner.

FORWARDS: Wayne Rooney, Ashley Young, Danny Welbeck, Daniel Sturridge, Theo Walcott.
