Cavendish, Clarke or Strauss are the strongest contenders for me. Probably Cavendish just shading it ahead of the other two.

Inside they announced the four nominees for their Sportswoman of the Year award. Wellington wasn't one of them.
The fact is that outside of an Olympic year women's sport simply doesn't get the same exposure that men's sport does - I guarentee right now that if she wins gold next year Jess Ennis will be Sports Personality 2012. If the papers want more women on the shortlist they should cover their performances more.

times/sunday times are leftwing labour-loving harriet harman enthusiasts. if the bbc had a sports channel then we would have more sportswomen on the list has they would get more exposure. jess ennis would have been on if she won gold at the world athletic champs this year. its olympics (summer and winter), world athletic champs and commonwealth games give sportswomen the exposure.

strauss captian a team to the ashes against a shit aussie team. mo farrah won gold at 5km and silver 10km the world athletic champs against a field that would the same field at the olympics next year which was world class. mo farrah after his eurpean champs success last year has stepped up and been counted.

has i said cavendish, farrah, either clarke or mcillroy
mark cavendish won sports personality of the year. totally deserved Smile
i got the top 3 right, cav (deserved winner), clarke (2nd with the sympathy vote), farrah (3rd but could easly have won it). if mo farrah did what he did at the world athletic champs or better with 2golds in the 10000m and 5000m at the olympics then he would be favourite to win it.

baby cav could be the next world champ cyclist. sir steve redgrave's daughter is a rower even though she said she will never row.
Well done to Cav. Totally deserved. Only Mo Farrar was a contender. Still think it will different next year. If Jessica Ennis wins gold she will win it. She looked fantastic last night.
Cavendish was a worthy winner imo. I would have put Luke Donald in 2nd and Alastair Cook in 3rd due to consistency throughout the year.
Well deserved winner in Cavendish.Great to see cycling in the spotlight for a change.
jess ennis, farrah, addlington could the top 3 next year. its an olympic so expect a lot of sportswomen on the shortlist.
Next year is a busy sporting year for sure. The Olympians may well dominate the top ten nominees although if Andy Murray were to cause a surprise and win Wimbledon or any other major for example then that may make it interesting. And if England do well in the Euros that may be another factor. Fascinating year in prospect Smile
more good news for mark cavendish, he's now a dad, his fiancee, ex page 3 girl peta todd have birth to a baby daughter called delilah
