On a remarkable day of cricket yesterday Australia skittled South Africa for 96 and then suffered a horrendous collapse, falling to 21/9 on a pitch that was not as bad as the figures suggest. The lowest total in Test history was New Zealand's 26 against England in 1955 and only a last wicket stand pushed Australia past that total. Australian captain Micheal Clarke described their 47 all out as incomprehensible and disgraceful.
I am still laughing could not happen to a "nicer team"
The match finished today with South Africa winning by 8 wickets despite a considerable first innings deficit.

Scores: Australia 284 & 47, South Africa 96 & 236/2 (match completed in 3 days).
Why are two major test sides playing a 2 match series, its a joke.

Australia are ranked 4th out of 9 in the current test match rankings, but that probably still qualifies as major.
Expect the top 4 ranked Test sides to change places on a regular basis over the next year or two.Very little between them.I don't buy into the view of England dominating like the West Indies & Australia did previously.

Because Australia want to play 2 tests against New Zealand before they start on 4 tests against India.
Are you all taking the piss today ? I know about the 2 Kiwi Tests, who are poor at Test cricket & until they take it more seriously don't warrant more. Obviously the point I'm making is a longer series would be better. The Test match fixtures are a joke,Australia have had long gaps were they've had no Test cricket & now 3 series on the bounce, when 2 longer series would be more meaningful.
The problem is that so much of the cricket calendar nowadays is dominated by the demands of the one-day game
Thats true mr williams and its a shame, limited overs cricket seems to be what brings in the punters. The 2nd test was a thriller that went down to the wire on day 5 and yet the attendance was pitiful.
