The following link is to an e-petition - http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/3882 - to make housing cheaper.

I would urge as many people as possible to sign this, it doesn't matter if you don't quite understand or agree with all of the wording in the petition, it's the intention of lowering house prices that matters. It will take no time at all to sign, you will be sent an email with a link which you then need to activate before your signature is added. If you do sign it, please get as many friends and family to support you by signing it as well.

If you are currently a first time buyer, or likely to be in the future, or if you are renting with a view to buying, I would also urge you to join the Home buyers' strike facebook group - http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=104936389547036. Please also recommend that any friends in a similar position join this group as well.

House prices in this country are still ridiculously high and unaffordable; they are slowly creeping down despite being artificially propped up by historical low Interest rates. There is no longer the fear that you should buy 'now' to avoid any future price rises, prices are only going one way... and that's down. Do not be swayed by media reports or papers like the Express which likes to print a bullshit 'house price rise' headline seemingly every week; and do not be swayed by anyone who advises you who may have 'vested interests' in keeping house prices high e.g. People who own Buy-to-Let property etc. (this includes some Estate Agents). Do not pay any attention to so called 'First Time Buyer' government schemes such as 'shared equity' or the recent 'mates mortgages', they are all designed to keep people in debt and maintain these silly prices.

If any of this is interesting or relevant to anyone here, please post your comments. I also recommend visiting housepricecrash.co.uk for more information and advice on the housing market.

In hindsight I guess I should have named the thread something like 'Emma Watson's Extreme Anal Adventures' to grab peoples attention Wink
