the easiest way to put a smillie on your post is to press the reply button and
just to the left of the reply box are your smille's just press the one you want

Thanks, rover. I hadn't noticed that. However, the 'reply' automatically quotes the poster, which isn't always necessary. You can delete the quote, of course, but why have a quote button when the reply button does it anyway?
