The above situation is correct. If you intentionally try and post twice. You either get that message. Or you get told you have already posted the message.

But during an error situation, you can inadvertently post twice without being given that massage. I always read back through the pages, to see what I've missed. But not everyone does. So there may be the odd occasion, that even the most conscientious of us may miss something by mistake.

It not always obvious, as if someone is posting at the same time, your double post may be split by one or more posts.

There may indeed be a general problem with double posts in the forum which is not down to IE, but for the 4 members mentioned at the start of this thread - vila, mr mystery, whizzer and rickhardo - I'm sure that the problem definitely is caused by IE. Fortunately, as mentioned above, using IE's Compatibility View may fix it.
i've had this problem since i upgraded to ie9. but it's no problem really to delete the extra post. i just assumed it was a glitch with ie9

also when i just posted this a screen came up saying that i'd already posted in this thread. i will try using compatibility view and let you know if the problem persists. Smile
Compatibilty view seems to have worked for me. Cheers chaps.
problem fixed also. cheers lads. Smile
Yes the compatibility view has worked for me as well. Problem solved.
now just to remember the dude who sends us 15 identical PMs every time and let him know
After my recent computer crash, IE7 was installed as default browser after factory reset, which I upgraded to IE8; for reasons detailed below I have not upgraded back to IE9.

Previously I installed IE9 several months ago when it was still in test mode & no problems, but when IE9 was sanctioned as the official new Microsoft browser earlier this year something changed & things started to go wrong.

Relevant to what's under discussion, I found that when posting on this site, on a VERY regular basis I was posting, hitting the enter key, which resulted in losing my broadband link(See sample message below), which ain't a barrel of laughs when you've just made a post with 40 caps in & you've got to start again.

Changed to Google Chrome & no problems, but did have other issues, then the crash & back with IE8 that I used up to a few months ago & no problems.

Regarding the double message issue, after a while I found that when I got the error message. reset the modem & hit the refresh button, sometimes the message would reappear, & you would reenter it, assuming the 1st attempt had failed, but in fact had succeeded resulting in the double entry.
