I find this song very difficult to listen to without starting to fill up.

My mum, dying from cancer 10 years ago insisted on having this song played over and over again...there is a line in the song "I'll take your part..when darkness comes..and pain is all around.." which really hits hard. Sad
The 2 songs that get me a bit teary-eyed whenever I hear them are Evanscence - My Immortal & Guns N Roses - Knockin' on Heavens Door (Bob Dylan's version is a cracker as well), hence why I picked them as my send off songs whenever I shuffle of this mortal coil.

Prior to my dads funeral about 7 years ago I was given the responsibilty of choosing his main send-off song & for me there was one song that I felt did him justice & probably one of the most beautiful & poignant songs ever written. The song by the late, great Luther Vandross - Dance with my Father Again. And whilst my dad & I weren't exactly the best of friends I'd like to think I did right by him with that song (there wasn't a dry-eye at the funeral when the song was played).

Bon Jovi - Always.

The day after my dog died, i was listening to Bon Jovi's Greatest Hits at work on my Sony Diskman, it was 1998, and Always brought the floods of tears back. Kinda avoided that song from that moment.
Watching that Eric Clapton thing from last week reminded me of Tears in Heaven, which has been done already up-thread. So the Peter Gabriel thing last night reminds me of this:

Life Eternal-Ghost
Most recently I have to nominate
'Always Remember Us This Way' by Lady Gaga.

Every lyric of that song resonates with me for so many personal reasons.
Gets me every time I hear it.

In addition to the reply I made some months ago, there is one other song which I have deliberately not listened to since June 14,2008 because I don’t know what impact it would have on me.

The song was played at my mum’s funeral. She was just 63 years of age when she died and it hit me particularly hard.

Diana Ross - Touch me in the morning.
