The 1984 European Championships Semi-final, France v Portugal - possibly the best international match at a major championships. If you like goals, great saves and high drama then you MUST see thisSmile

Sadly, as England hadn't qualified for the 1984 European Championships the BBC took their ball home with them because no-one could possibly be interested if England weren't involved, could they? This wasn't even televised live, but shown late on that Saturday nightSurprised

Platini scored NINE goals from just five matches from central midfield - a worthy Player of the Tournament if ever there was one, and John Motson's commentary after Platini's winner "I haven't seen a game as good as this in years!" said it all! Football at its brilliant best!
The FA Cup Final in 1989 between Liverpool and Everton. An emotional day when a city became united just weeks after the Hillsborough disaster. Footballing rivalries were put aside before kick off with the singing of You'll Never Walk Alone by both sets of fans. It was an amazing show of respect and a brilliant tribute to the poor souls who lost their lives just week before. R.I.P to the 96 Y.N.W.A!!

i witnessed it on tv.

I never tire of watching that BaaBaas try agaist the All Blacks, it still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. From the magic of Phil Bennett,John Dawes, speed, flair, great hands ( David and Quinnell) , great support play ( Pullin) and finished off in style by the legend that is Gareth Edwards (plus the commentary by Cliff Morgan was the icing on the cake)

I think today the whistle would have blown for a high tackle before the move got started !!!

One to rival the Baa-baas try is maybe New Zealand Vs France (1991)
Typical French flair!!!!

if someone can find the video of Oz du Randt getting run over by scott gibbs on the lions tour of s/a 1997, i would like to see if it's as good as i remember. it has always stayed with me, one tackle changed that whole series!
Sorry couldn't find the Video of Scott Gibbs but it did remind me of
John Bentley's amazing try.

I know it pales into insignificance with most of the truly great feats we've seen posted on here so far, but I'm sure you'll all agree that this is different class and is guaranteed to make you all smileSmile

what makes me laugh is the amount of time he had to get into position. he never tried to chip him cos he wasnt far enough of his line, so was it a weak shot or a miskick.
another great sporting moment, lol.
