May not mean much to many but my club has lost a legend. Nat Lofthouse of Bolton Wanderers has died aged 85. Nat played 452 times for the Whites scoring 255 goals and made 33 England appearances notching 30 goals, an exceptional strike rate.
Much more than that though was the loyalty he showed to his hometown club. He did every job at the Wanderers up to manager and then played a big role in saving the club from extinction in the 1980s.
Having met him briefly I can say he was a genuinely nice bloke and his popularity around Bolton never dipped. A genuine one-club man he will be sadly missed by all at the club and the town.
RIP Nat and thanks for everything.
I remember people talking about Nat Lofthouse when I was a kid. Not a bad innings and life.
RIP Nat......a true fotballing legend
RIP Nat
R.I.P to a true great and a gentleman.
RIP Nat.. a true great of English football Sad
RIP Nat Lofthouse never had the pleasure of seeing him play as he was a bit before my time but to hear him being mentioned 50 years after he hung up his boots he must have been something special
Totally agree with all the above. From a time when players were real men who just got on with it instead of diving, feigning injury etc, who travelled to matches with fans, and were paid the same as many of the fans. Furthermore, as Rickhardo says, Nat Lofthouse was a loyal one-club-man, itself something that can be said of fewer and fewer players today.

Nat was - and remains - one of the biggest names in English football history. RIP Nat.
