It would seem we're not so safe anymore from potential lawsuit for copyright infringement given recent news articles on the internet, which whilst mostly US based in origin do have a likely "voice" over here in Blighty.

Should we as a collective group be concerned ? Should this forum ensure it has itself "covered" by registering a DMCA takedown agent ?

As the UK likes to follow rather than lead, how long will it be before there's a company over here doing the same as RightHaven then ?

I'm posting this for awareness not any personal opinion, and serves only to generate debate or rebuttal.

A useful link here outlines what is occuring in the US, and what are some precautionary steps a website could make...
From what I've learned from been on music sharing sites is that as long as the site doesn't host the music there's not much the copyrighters can do other than ask for them to be removed which 99% of the time has been ignored, the only time we haven't is when there was a serious issue in regards to Madonna songs even then we only removed the items for a week (which they found to be a satisfactory solution)

The first thing the copyrighters would do is contact the image hosts and ask them to remove the items, most of the time it will never go past that.
