depends the sport and competition. in cricket the test playing countries automatically qualify for the world cup and the other nations go through various qualifing rounds. in rugby if the team finishes in the top 3 of their group from the previous world cup they are automatically qualifer for the next.

You sailed right passed the point I was making, just because it happens doesn't make it right
that both methods work. there is no right or wrong way as long the competition open and transparant so we know whats going on. weather you stick the names into a hat and pulled them out(fa cup) or seedings (tennis).

The latter is exactly how the latter stages of my tournaments work.

Just admit you've lost the argument, go back to your competition and let this one carry on as it is. I shan't be responding any more to your pathetic posts, and gazfc/Regen, I suggest you take the same approach.
Then we can all have some peace.

What arguement have I 'lost' exactly? 'Pathetic' would be continually making snarky comments throughout various threads and then trying to take the high ground by saying you'll no longer respond and telling your lynch mob to do so as well. It's extremely transparent unfortunately.

Seeds only work if all the participants where in last years comp and the comp is not open when not all girls are considered

Whats your point?

The seed way didn't work because it was messed up from the start, The seeding as scotman said, was done on last years results, popularity and the best chance of winning.

These are some of the girls that was left out (the ones that i can remember anyway)

The randomise way is much better than seedings. As gazfc showed in that last post, girls who are very popular on this forum (Hannah, Sarah, Rosie and Lucy Anne) were big omissions from the original list, and clearly that was a mistake as shown by their thread statistics.

A nomination period is better because it gives everybody the chance to name their choices. And the tournament seems to be working well, because votes continue coming in. Smile
The competition is bubbling along very nicely Smile The thing I want to comment on is not this, as some of you may have expected/feared/hoped, but the channel representation.
We hear discussions all the time about which channel is the "best". In the last 16 we have 7 from the Pad, 6 from Elite and 3 from other channels (BS and TVX). and one of those Pad girls (Sammie) spent the majority of the year on Elite. There are three Elite v Pad matches in this round, one has Elite leading clearly, the other two are neck and neck with the Pad narrowly in front.
This suggests that there's not much to choose between the Big Two at all, and at the end of the day, it's all down to how many of your faves are on one or the other.
It is kinda interesting watching all these polls, to see how they vary.

For example, in the 2010 daytime babe of the year last 16, Cara is taking on Becky, and looks like becky is gonna win. Yet in the Awesome Daytime babe of the year vote, cara is trouncing everyone else at Elite days by a mile, Becky included.

There are other examples of things like this spread through all the various polls.
