Doubt last nights trouble would of had any effect as there's alot more crowd trouble in Russia plus alot of racial abuse
I could be wrong, but 4 or so days before the vote, Panorama accusing of corruption the very people that our delegation were trying to court might have pissed them off somewhat Big Grin

There's a rumour doing the rounds that Brazil won't be ready in 4 yrs time, so that either the England or the U.S bid will be "parachuted in" to cover that eventuality. Possibly a done deal even before the Russian win was announced.

A bit far fetched, but given what we're dealing with nothing would be a surprise.

Probably is, but considering we went from 1/2 virtual certainties with the bookies to only 2 vote "no hopers" in the space of less than 5 mins, you can't discount anything Big Grin
The last 20 years or so has been trend of first time hosts like the USA 1994 and Japan/Korea 2002, South Africa 2010 this just continues it. England can't be that suprised.
The country with the best prostitutes won.
Thats probably what swung it.
Not surprised that Russia won for 2018.

But what the fuck with Qatar for 2022.

That's going to be an interesting World Cup if the loads of European/USA/Aussie/Brazilian girls decide to go in their usual outfits (or lack of) when the weather is hot. Also, I wonder how 'official sponsor' Budweiser is going to react to a WC in a society where officially alcohol is frowned upon or will FIFA make Qatar relax their objections during the tournament.

Lastly, if Israel qualify for 2022 will the Qataris let them enter the country.
Can we really be suprised that we didn't get it,there was a guy called Eddie who was on the presentation team and although he did a good job he works for Man City and being a fellow Blue i'd already accepted that anything anybody touches from my beloved club is doomed to abject failure laugh

Yes. Modern-day Qatar is founded on love of money, not religious ideology.
And, despite my worry that capitalism helps to kill the planet, thank fudge for that. Who needs religious fervour thrown into the mix of a World Cup? Leave it at the gates, would you?

ps - Maldives 2026; first World Cup held under 12 feet of seawater.
Got £500 on that one. We'll see who's laughing.

I think you'll find in the last few hours one bookmaker had closed their book another was laying 8/13 and the rest were hovering around 6/5, but these were all UK based bookmakers who were balancing their books at the close of betting. This bears no relevance to the world betting market, we were only virtual certainties in England and absolutely nowhere else; Russian bookmakers closed their books weeks ago on a Russian win.
