Hi guys/girls,

Just a quick question, in regards the video's I post.

I received a PM from Vila, that every time he plays one of my video's, that his explorer shuts down, and won't allow him back into that folder.

So I wanted to ask, if anyone else was having similar problems playing my video's. As I have performed a full scan on my system, and have ruled out any viruses, and malware.

I use VirtualDub to make all my video's up, using the same standard H264 video codec for all of them. So, any idea what might be causing this effect?

All the best

Ace.
Let's see if I can help. Don't know if my english is the best, but I'll try.

I had the same problem that my system would not let me open folders containing (some, not all) videos.

It ended with this :
every time I had a video in a folder (with this problem to open it) I made a search through the startmenu using the name of the file ( like eve.mp4)
Then I dragged and dropped it from the searchresult onto my desktop.
Then it played fine when it was not in a folder.
Strange.
Thanks for the reply. Big Grin

But I think Vila was saying he only had this problem with my video's. eek

So I was asking people if anyone else has a problem with my video's? As I want to try and determine if it something I'm doing wrong, whilst encoding them. And if so, I was wondering if anyone knew how I could correct it.

If I'm not doing anything wrong. Then I think Vila would like to know what's affecting his system, when he plays one of my video's. i.e. Is it a codec problem?

It's just I've posted well over 1200 video's on this forum, and this is the first time, (at least that I'm aware of) that anyone has had this problem. So I'm trying to rule out error on my part.

I don't have problem with your videos and I think it is a problem of codecs.

You can send the codec to vila.
Thanks Quiquem's,

I don't think I need to send Vila the codec, as it's a standard H264 Mpeg 4 codec, that's available everywhere on the net. He could find it himself is seconds, if that was the problem.
Hey Ace, I too have experienced windows explorer crashing in the past while I was running XP/Vista as my operating system. It was also on an older machine with a low spec. I changed the folder settings at the time to list the files instead of getting thumbnail views of the vids. It seemed to do the trick back then. I haven't had a problem on Windows Seven or my newer PC though.

edit: Forgot to mention that explorer only crashed with your vids Ace. Not an issue anymore on Windows Seven. Some kind of hardware/software conflict maybe? Have no idea why it only affected your vids only.
Thanks Josh, But it's not me that seems to have the problem, It's Vila it would seem.

From what he told me, he only has the problem when playing my videos, not anyone else's. He opens up his explorer, and selects the video to watch. The player, plays the video without any problems, but his explorer shuts down, and when he fires it back up, it won't allow him back into that folder.

It would seem he has the problem. I was just wondering why only my videos?
