Here's a visualization of the friendship connections between 10 million Facebook users.

The creator took a 2% sample of friendship pairs from Facebook’s data warehouse, combined that data with each user’s current city and then
summed the number of friends between each pair of cities.

He then merged the data with the longitude and latitude of each city.

The result is stunning:

A rather good example of Flash/image integration called "Hong Kong at Dusk" (takes a few seconds to load):-

- Place your cursor at the top of the photo. You will notice it is 6:10 PM.

- Bring the mouse down slowly over the photo without pressing the button on the mouse. Do not right or left click.

- Night time appears, the lights come on, and at 7:40 PM, it's dark!
