Shame theres not room for another striker or John Hartson would slot in lol
This is probably the team everyone in this thread's been waiting for, the best Crewe Alexandra team (since 1983 anyway).

Jason Kearton 1996-2001

Rob Jones 1988-91
Steve Macauley 1991-2001
Shaun Smith 1991-2001

Geoff Thomas 1984-87 & 2001-02
David Platt 1985-88
Danny Murphy 1993-97 % 1999
Neil Lennon 1990-96
Seth Johnson 1994-99

Craig Hignett 1988-92 & 2004
Dean Ashton 2000-05

On reflection I think this team is probably a lie, as in reality I would play another centre back, Steve Foster 1997-2006, and leave out one of the midfielders, Seth Johnson I guess, even though he is god at the alex.
I've just to weigh in here with my Alex side, only starts in 92 though, so short of Rob Jones, Geoff Thomas, David Platt, and Craig Hignett, as well as a few older names, Stan Bowles for instance. Still a good side though.

GK: Clayton Ince / Jason Kearton

RB: Martyn Booty / David Wright

CB: Steve Macauley

CB: Steve Foster / Dave Walton

LB: Shaun Smith

MF: Robbie Savage

MF: Danny Murphy

MF: Neil Lennon

MF: Seth Johnson / David Vaughan

ST: Dean Ashton

ST: Dele Adebola / Ashley Ward
I've gone with 1989 onwards as this is when i started to watch Liverpool on tv, after watching the unfortunate events of 15th April 1989 unfold on Grandstand.
I've also gone with the modern day size squad.

GK: Pepe Reina, Worlds best in my opinion.
RB: Steve Nicol, Quality all-rounder.
CB: Jaime Carragher, As good a defensive defender the Premier League has seen.
CB: Sami Hyypia, One of the best buys in Premier League history.
LB: Stig Inge Bjornebye, Better defender than everyone since basically.
RW: Steve McManaman, The Ryan Giggs of an unsuccessful era.
CM: Steven Gerrard, Simples!!!
DM: Didi Hamann, One of the top 6 insurance policies in the Premier League era.
LW: John Barnes, Many 80's kids are football fans as a result of this man.
ST: Robbie Fowler, Goal scoring machine, Injuries are a bitch.
ST: Ian Rush, 660 games 346 goals, Nuff said.

SQUAD
GK: Bruce Grobblaar, Bit of a legend.
DEF: Alvaro Arbeloa, A steady player in defence & attack.
Stephane Henchoz, Slow as a snail but him & Sami, Quality.
Mark Wright, Come on man the guy looks like Yoda, Give him a break.
Daniel Agger, Over the years he'll become a Hyypia style buy.
MID: Ronnie Whealan, You don't argue with Bob!!!
Danny Murphy, He'd still be at the club if he didn't get injured the season before Rafa came.
Jan Molby, Why, because it's 'Big' Jan & he was class!!!
Xabi Alonso, Becks cant go fuck him self.
ST: Dirk Kuyt, Not a great striker but every team needs a player like him.
Fernando Torres, This man will no doubt score more than Robbie & that other one, he may not score as many as Rush but he may become a bigger hero.

Honorable mentions to John Arne Riise, how did he score that goal
Dominic Matteo, Steve Staunton, Rob Jones, Jamie Redknapp, Patrik Berger, Steve Finnan, Javier Mascherano, Alan Hansen, by 1 year.
