Just wondered what everyone thought of the results of the BBC vote for the best in rock;
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/rocknrollband/

Personally I think Led Zeppelin probably the right choice as top band.
Mick Jagger probably would have got my vote as singer
Jimi Hendrix was an easy one as guitarist
Drummer much closer probably Bonham right choice but Moon and Grohl close contenders
Bassist I might have gone for John Entwistle
Flea on bass? Flea? Come on... eek My own choices are below.

Best band... The Rolling Stones

Singer... Freddy Mercury. Great showman, versatile voice, played piano as well.

Guitarist... Keith Richards, although Pete Townshend, Brian May, Slash, Steve Jones, Bernard Butler, Angus Young, Johnny Marr, Jeff Beck and Peter Green (pre losing the ability to play thanks to drugs and lunacy) would all be equally valid choices.

Drums... John Bonham. Much as I love Moon, Grohl and Watts, Bonham is just that little bit better than the others.

Bass... Glenn Matlock, although Lemmy, John Deacon and John Entwhistle were close runners as well.

I have to say, I think the vote was restrictive, as there should have been the ability to pick two guitarists, one lead and one rhythm. bladewave My own choice would have been for both Keith Richards and Pete Townshend. I wouldn't put Hendrix in a band, his playing was transcendent, but far from tight.
