the 7 game series to decide who wins one of the most famous trophies in world sport, the stanley cup starts tonight (early hours of tomorrow morning uk time) with the chicago blackhawks taking on the philadelphia flyers

im going for the chicago blackhawks as they have good goaltending from antti niemi and some good players in front of him including patrick kane, dustin byfuglien and marian hossa
Well firsty, good thread Rammy, im a bit of an ice hocky fan myself and it doesn't get the love it so truely deserves in this country.
Secondly im bummed the Detroit Redwings are not still in it as there my team and have been for years now so im not to happy about that, i thought they'd get it this year, they were so close last year, won it the year before, but just never looked there dominate selves.
So im with you and saying Blackhawks for the win. Not only a good goalie in Niemi but probably one of the best attacking players in the NHL, Marian Hossa, who was a Red Wing in 08-09 and i was pissed when they traded him.

personal opinons aside theres no disputing facts football is the most popular sport in the world and the world cup is the biggest prize in the game
what a game 1 last night. wont post the score and my comments since some ice hockey fans will have been in bed

hagman1989 i said the stanley cup is one of the most famous trophies in sport not THE most famous trophy.

i do conceed the football world cup is probably the most famous trophy but in the us and canada it isnt. in canada is probably the stanley cup and in the us the vince lombardi trophy
when's game 2 on?
tomorrow night (may 31st) at 8pm chicago time which is around 1am/2am uk time tuesday morning
i'm a colorado fan, have been since they were moved from quebec, but as they're not in it i'm rooting for the flyers- always had a soft soft for philly since the days of eric lindros. game 2 should a good 'un. that said i'm more interested in the baseball season- my beloved tigers are starting to flop Sad
I didnt watch the game, but caught some of the high lights and i gotta say it was a good game. Pretty evenly matched in the end.
