There are no other candidates so far, so it's unlikely that there will be any election.

Platini is doing a good job anyway and I agree with nearly everything that UEFA have done since he became president. I'm not sure about expanding the UEFA Championship to 24 teams though - doesn't make the qualifying competition a nonsense? With 24 teams in the finals I can't see how one of the bigger countries like England could ever not qualify, making the qualifying campaign a bit pointless. 24 teams is not a good number for a finals competition anyway. I understand why it was done though, because Platini and others at UEFA are keen to give some of the smaller countries more of a chance of being in the finals, hence 24 teams instead of 16.
