Dear babeshows forum members and babe/adult channel viewers,
In recent complaints bulletins regarding 'boundary-pushing' babe channels (actually quite tame compared to what we used to watch on these channels before 2005/6) Ofcom made the following sweeping statement:
I think we'd all like to know if this claim is true or not. Sure, Ofcom have asked small groups of people (perhaps 20 or so if memory serves me well) from certain 'ethnic minorities' and non-specific adult channel viewing members of the public what they feel about 'mature' content on TV but, to my knowledge, Ofcom have never polled or surveyed those members of society that physically make up the typical audience of these particular channels - i.e. broad-minded, sexually-liberated people like ourselves.
Logic tells me that if the vast majority of viewers were offended by what they saw then they'd switch off or over, they'd perhaps feel compelled to complain to Ofcom in great swathes. In reality Ofcom get maybe one or two complaints about these shows on a very intermittent basis. And, as these channels rely upon people subscribing or calling-in, alienating the viewers is not really in their finanical interests and they would surely know if great swathes of people were turning off when the shows got too risque. In all, I do not believe Ofcom's claims. In fact, I don't see how Ofcom can believe their own claims - do you?
So, let's put an end to all the hype and speculation. It's a simple question: does the content on channels in Ofcom's so-called "adult section of the EPG" reach, meet, or exceed your expectations?
This poll will hopefully reveal the veracity of Ofcom's assertions that:
a) the material exceeds the expectations of the audience and
b) that this applies to the vast majority of the audience
One, other or both of these assertions maybe wrong - and that could have serious repercussions for Ofcom's future decisions, indeed, they may have to alter their Code to meet audience expectations as the Comms Act 2003 demands.
The more responses we get the better - in order to get an accurate and representative picture of the situation. The 26000 members here most surely represent a fair cross-section of the British Public and, arguably, fully represent the typical 'adult TV' audience.
NOW PLEASE VOTE! This research is crucial to the future of these channels and your participation is essential.
Many thanks for your time and co-operation
