I have problems trying to watch the many vids you guys kindly put on here with rapidshare
it takes an age to download, so once you have done so
you cant download another cos you are over your limit
am I doing something wrong
or do I just need to subscribe to rapidshare
subscribe or just be very patient.
I'm not a Rapidshare subscriber either, so it can be very frustrating when a video is split into multiple parts that need to be joined to play properly. At least the people who are able and willing to make the videos are doing it. If like me, you're unable to pay the fee for a RS Premium account, then just be patient is all I can suggest. Over a 24 hour period you can download up to 500MB of data, so that covers most videos on the site. It's best to bookmark the links and periodically download one throughout the day, while you're doing other stuff.
I find its a lot quicker downloading rapidshare stuff during the daytime rather than in the evening.
I have free accounts with both rapidshare and megaupload. I used to use megaupload for uploading but use rapidshare now since it gives statistics on the number of downloads which megaupload does not.
Unfortunately for downloaders though, rapidshare is slower to download from than megaupload, unless you pay for a premium account.
I try to keep my filesizes below 100MB to make it a bit easier for any downloaders.
i don't know much about download managers, but apparantly they make your downloads quicker, i get frustrated wit rapidshare when tryna download movies, but then again u gotta appreciate the time and effort ppl take 2 upload
Rapidshare operates a 15 min waiting time between downloads for free users, as do most other download sites. I've found recently that Megaupload though allows me to download 3 or sometimes 4 parts simultaneously, so if you can find the stuff you want on there its a lot quicker.
On the subject of Rapidshare, they've brought in a new rule that may affect some uploaders.

As from October 20th, 2009, if an account is using more than 25 GB, all inactive files associated with that account will be deleted. An inactive file is classified as one that hasn't been downloaded during the previous 90 days.

Those b@stards. I have 125gb of files uploaded.

On a note about download managers, Megaupload have one under Megatools called Mega manager. I have signed up as a free member and installed the software. Its good and allows 3 direct downloads for non premium users a day. It also allows files to be uploaded, paused and resumed. I havent uploaded a file since I signed up(the Danica clip was uploaded b4) but they have a file manager within the program via a tab. Uploaded files by free users that have logged in can view download stats for their uploaded files. Upload and download speeds are super fast for free users too when compared to rapidshare.

With these new inpending changes to RS, I think that I will probably move to megaupload if I am still uploading come October.

It's gonna be a bitch to see some of my file deleted due to inactivity. Then again, Some of the very first files I uploaded are still being downloaded as of 2 weeks ago, so the better vids will be ok.
I also had a problem with megaupload after it got updated some months ago. While I was uploading, it totally locked my browser (firefox) up and I could not surf anywhere else until upload had ended.

I only have about 2GB of stuff at rapidshare.
In response to the original question. A month's subscription for a Premium Account will cost you around 25p per day - roughly the price of a good mouthful of beer or a bite of a sandwich.

If you don't have a credit card or Paypal account, then this info. is entirely useless.
