What are everyone's views on England's chances after last nights 5-1 thrashing
Fucking A. Of course we can win it, we gotta believe.
Great performance last night
But the World Cup is still over 9 months away so the amount of things that could happen between now and then is endless so im trying to remain skeptical of our chances of winning it
I do however, think that next year will be our best chance of winning it in a while (i know we say the every time lol Big Grin) with Capello in charge
Way too early to judge yet. We need to wait and see who is in the squad, who we have to play, the form of the other contenders etc etc. But Phoenix is right - we are going into a major tournament with a top class manager, somebody who can change the teams performance during a game, for the first time since 1990. Ask me again in May.
Anyway, England kick off in the final of the European Champs in 15 minutes - go girls!
what a great performance from england last night i think england have got a chance of winning the world cup
;)World Cup Final 2010 England 4 Germany 2 Wink
No.

Lets keep our expectations realistic. There are better teams than ours out there, no matter how well we are playing at the moment.
Considering some of the teams that are struggling to qualify you've got to see this as a great chance. Argentina look like they might have to rely on a play off, Germany only lead russia by two points but have still got to go to moscow, france and portugal look to be heading for at best a play-off place and the same goes for sweden, the republic of ireland could well overturn italy as the italians still have to play in dublin. Turkey may go out without even getting a play off place if bosnia win a game. The czechs are out and so are poland and croatia and ukraine are fighting over a single play off place. On top of this England are certain to be seeded for a change and so you'd expect a relatively easy ride to the quarter finals at least.
In my opinion, absolutely, yes.

Obviously a while to go & things can happen of all natures. So looking at it now and what has recently preceded last night's game, i truly believe we can and believe we should be going with our mind set as the same.

Our players, and we have truly outstanding players all over the pitch with differing qualities, are now/will be of the right age physically and mentally. I believe we will not have a better chance than this World Cup coming and haven't had for a long time. It's taken us since 1986 to have this (good) chance.

The real question is whether our players/supporters truly believe in themselves (enough). This will primarily stem from the manager, whom i believe will be able to continue to do this - hence the results we've been getting under him. We haven't had a manager this good since Bobby Robson in recent times. Capello may even be better.
was a great result 4 England. i'm optimistic that we have a good chance of getting to the finals. Fingers crossed for the world cup
