now we have a battle. these two bands are as close to having band twins as you can get. i love rem so i am not the one to judge this one lol

find a river (not sure if that was even a single)
Winners Rem, i find there songs more accessible, U2 have had there moments of genius but REM are consistenly a good band, be it with iconic sing-a-along songs or something a bit different like the song below.

Got to dissagree with you Chimpy. I know in the past U2 have had their dodgey moments but even then they were still the biggest band in the world. Love REM just love U2 more.
REM are great but U2 are better - seen them four times in the last week, just got up from three hours sleep after last nights gig in sheffield.
Bono is such a cock, but U2 are (IMHO) the far superior band, REM just do not have a lot of songs that I like, I would struggle to think of more than 5 probably.

5? are you serious? buy/download their albums. if you have heard their albums up to document then you will know many more than 5 songs. they don't stop there either.

i am not spitting on u2 but the whole worship us thing stinks. their gigs are too big. they say the 360 thing is about getting closer to the audience. bullshit. its about stuffing more people into an arena.

still a class band despite bono. rem has pretty much never made a bad track.

sunday. bloody sunday. i could never get the handle on sundays either
Two great bands you either love Bono or hate him.
firekind i thought you said you're not the one to judge this ? lol
I have a copy of Monster right next to my laptop. I do like U2- excpet Bono is a tool, REM are better imo.
both Bands have done some great songs, but I will go with REM
Close run thing. 5 or 6 years ago I'd have said REM but U2's last couple of albums have been such a return to form so I'll just go with the Irish funsters. I still love REM though.
