RE: Rishi Sunak - and his Government
It's not overly surprising, the Tory party is so heavily fractured right now that there is just no way he could have a one nation cabinet.

With 357 MPs to 284 in opposition, 7 abstentions, it only takes 40 odd mps to rebel. There are 40 members of the ERG alone, some of them like Javid, Gove, Afolami, Malthouse are more moderate but most are the sort of the Rees Mogg, Francois lunatic ilk. In order for the basic function of Government, for legislation to be passed the Government will need allies from those areas of the party who can act as its unofficial whips to get a functioning majority.

With Hunt remaining neutral, Braverman was probably his most crucial endorsement. If I was Sunak I would of done the same thing though I probably would of given her a lesser role like leader of HOC & made Mordaunt Home Sec.

Michael Gove whatever you think of him is seen as an effective cabinet minster because he has a track record of implementing policies. Like them or not he gets things done. As a powerful big beast in the party who was key in the reversal of the top rate of tax from the mini budget & probably would of got other concessions had the whole thing not been scrapped, its probably better to have an experienced knife wilder in your cabinet than out it.

It looks like with his appointments Braverman at Home in charge of immigration & Raab at Justice where he can reignite his "Bill of Rights" bill he is saying to the right we (one nation tories) will deal with the economy, you can have your culture war.

In a normal period that might be prudent, the public likes fiscal competence & tends to lean to the right on social issues but given the catastrophic damage to the party's economic reputation & the fact that he is an "unelected leader" will more than likely stew with the public i doubt it will be enough to save The Tories.

If i could find a girl that had the looks of Gal Gadot, breasts of Sophie Mudd with Demi Rose's ass, the personality of Jessica Ennis, the grace of Kendall Jenner on the red carpet and then behind closed doors the raw sexual energy of Nicole Snow i'd know i was dead and gone to heaven, so i'll just take Demi Rose's ass and Nicole's sexual energy

RE: Rishi Sunak - and his Government
No doubt the papers will turn on him by Christmas because whatever is in that report next monday will define his policy path.
if Rishi can't get any legislation through by Christmas, I reckon the govt will be a paralysed government and the only way out will be a kicking in the polls because a paralysed governmernt with two years to election won't last long after Christmas and I think they simply have made the PM job more than just a poisoned chalice.

But, it just seems so unimaginative. Is the talent among the Scottish Conservatives that weak?

Well Rishi said in his speech he's about honour & integrity, that another example of tory BS given he's appointed Cruella after she's broke the ministerial code & was found guilty of bullying.

Pretty much. It's a non-job anyway. Nobody would notice if it was binned.

We are on a never ending downward spiral, with each new cabinet managing to do the almost impossible job of being even wost than the last.
