^ He's made it. He's backing her and his Ministerial Code Advisor who found she had done wrong has resigned. Patel has issued a non apology.

I bet if he can't sack Patel by midnight tonight - he'll get more resignations over weekend and maybe some that might lead to a cabinet reshuffle.

MAY SACKED HER - SO WHY CAN'T BORIS? face up to it Boris she's been damned in the report she should go. Otherwise accept that your Government could be in meltdown before restrictions are lifted.

What's offiicial Pm's RESPONSE?

I have to say I am appalled at this disgraceful episode.
The Prime Minister called an inquiry into the conduct of the Home Secretary only to disregard and reject the findings and the conclusions reached.

That by itself is to my mind a deplorable and outrageous humiliation of Independent Advisor on Ministerial Standards Sir Alex Allan who has quite understandably chosen to resign.
The report was clear.
It stated that the Home Secretary has and I quote
"not consistently met the high standards required by the ministerial code of treating her civil servants with consideration and respect"
Further to this the report adds
"Her approach has amounted to behaviour that can be described as bullying in terms of the impact felt by individuals. To that extent her behaviour has been in breach of the ministerial code even if unintentionally".

If I were found to be in breach of such rules and regulations in my work I would rightly be dismissed.

In his resignation statement earlier this year former Home Office Permanent Secretary Sir Philip Rutnam stated of the Home Secretary and I quote
"I have received allegations that her conduct has included shouting and swearing, belittling people, making unreasonable and repeated demands - behaviour that created fear and that needed some bravery to call out."

Rutnam has subsequently suggested he did make her aware of the need to treat staff with respect. He has also been clear that soon after her taking up the role of Home Secretary she was advised she must not shout and swear at staff".

The Home Secretary however claims that issues were not pointed out to her in spite of the above statement seemingly to the contrary.

The Prime Minister has demonstrated breathtaking arrogance as well as an utter disrespect for impartial and independent public servants for the purpose of protection of the political interests of himself and his ministerial colleague.
It is insensitive, it is morally objectionable and totally unacceptable.
The human effect on neutral public servants has been brutally ignored.
Bullying is a very serious issue that has long lasting effects on its victims. Trust me, I know. Allegations of this kind simply must not be treated in such distainful fashion.

Not only is the PM response spineless it is also deeply disingenuous and out of touch.
I am utterly, utterly disgusted .

What can you expect?

Look I've not researched Patel's background. Maybe her CV details a career running companies, managing people in complex and demanding roles, handling billions.
I'll bet not. She'll be a butcher, baker or candlestick maker that got onto the local council then got elected and finally got chosen to be a minister.
It's not as if she or any MP's let alone ministers are actually trained. A degree in MP-ing or a lifetime's experience in government. Started making the tea at the council section, worked her way up through supervisory roles in planning, middle management in law and order, Senior management in housing and now Home Secretary.

No she, like all of them are winging it:
'Would you like to be in charge Priti?'
'Ooh yes, I'd like to try that I used to be ever so good as milk monitor'.

Trouble is that we expect all of those amateurs to run the country like we professional do our jobs where in some cases we've trained for a decade and maybe done for 50 odd years.

Then put her under pressure, tell them she's got to succeed and they get a bit pushy with staff. Especially if those staff tell her no and why because they ARE trained pros.

It's a systemic problem. Governments should be run by the best persons for the job not someone who won a beauty contest.

I think you're confusing competence with bullying.

You can learn on the job without behaving like a cunt.

From Candidate to HomeSec in 10 years is some going for an ex PR Flunky/Lobbyist with no obvious talent. She's a nasty piece of work and her desperate attempts to sound posh while still dropping letters from the end of words are comical.

She's a proper cunt. End of.

So Boris has basically condoned bullying, not one of his brightest moves.
Too many people in power get away with this type of behaviour.
