I'm not sure we know the right story with Lucky. From what she said on cam the other night it was just her tv time that was cancelled. The decision not to go in at all could have been a bit of huff on her part.

Lucky was always a little bit of a loose cannon on tv. Maybe they just didn't want to risk her if they were bringing back nudity. The landing strip thing does sound a bit contrived, given that it was never a problem before.
