Dominic Dale beat Jimmy White 4-1. Reanne Evans made a good fist of it against Stuart Carrington, coming back from 2-0 down to level at 2-2; but she lost 4-2.

The Barnsley stage is now over. The tournament resumes in Llandudno in around 2 weeks time on February 12th.

Ronnie's giving this one a miss too. Stage fright, it seems.

Judd Trump's withdrawn from the Welsh Open also. It's so open now as to who's going to win the title. Given the way some of the tournament's have gone this season, any surprise contender not in the top 16 can come forward and get in a place in the Player's Championship with a good run of results.

Tubs Murphy 3 Barry Pinches 4! Woohoo!

Best result ever Smile

That result confirms Tubs can't make top 16 in the 1YRL for the Players Championship.

Defending champion Robert Milkins scraped past Jamie Jones 4-3.
Also wins for Mark Williams, Mark Allen, Barry Hawkins and Neil Robertson.

Big Bob won his 2nd match as well. Somehow, I can't see him defending it, but it would be good if he had a good week.

Ali Carter 1 Elliot Slessor 4 - a couple of people will be pleased with that result.
Ding Jinhui 2 Robbie Williams 4 - Hmm, well Ding may not worry about that too much. At No.5 on the 1YRL he's a cast iron certainty to be in the Players Championship.
Gary Wilson beat Ukrainian professional Julian Boiko 4-2.

The battle for a place in next week's Player's Championship in Telford is on.

Chris Wakelin lost 4-1 to Martin O'Donnell but he's done enough to put himself ahead of Lyu Haotian to claim 16th place on the 1YRL. However Wakelin can't book his ticket to Telford yet. Si Jiahui beat Andrew Pagett 4-2 so he's hot on Wakelin's trail.

Lisowski is currently1-0 up on Liam Pullen. Might he still have a say in it. Kyren Wilson is still in it. Neil Robertson beat Stuart Carrington 4-3. Can he make a late surge and win the tournament with no Judd or Ronnie to stop him?

Robertson looked unconvincing, and BBC Wales put Virgo & Dale on to commentate, leading to mention that Paul Robeson sang Ol' Man River.

Ding losing was amusing, though.

Kyren, Si Jiahui, Lisowski and Robertson all lost yesterday so none will feature in next week's Players Championship.

The top 16 on the 1YRL is not set in stone yet. Plenty of players still in it who can make a late surge for a place in Telford. Anthony McGill, Matthew Selt, Milkins, Hossein Vafaei, Dominic Dale, maybe even World Champion Luca Brecel. Still a chance to get a surprise finalist or two.
